The main character is Kelsey Carroll, who is a high school senior. As you watch the movie, you follow her daily life, not only in school, but also in the social work program. As someone who has faced homelessness, sexual abuse, and substance abuse, Kelsey can really use the guidance and support of her school’s social workers, and they do not let her down.
Chains of Gold
If you are a fan of John Travolta, definitely check out his straight-to-TV movie that was released in the early 1990s. In this film, which is titled Chains of Gold, he plays the role of an ex-alcoholic who has become a social worker, and his name is Scott Barnes. He ends up saving a boy from the violence of a gang of drug dealers, so this film goes beyond what it is like being a social worker on a day-to-day basis by also providing some extra action that will keep you engaged.
