Alfonso Montiel is an author. A memoir of his quest for self-examination and authenticity comes out later this year. His quest took him on a 50,000 mile journey over 50 days. His journey began in the US High Desert with a herd of seven horses and a horse whisperer. This was followed by the Amazon Jungle where he experienced life with indigenous tribes. And finally, he traveled to the mountains of Northern Thailand, on the border with Burma, to be with a heard of 14 elephants.
Prior to becoming an author, Alfonso co-founded and launched a $150 million private equity fund focused on affordable housing in under-served Latin American markets. He earned a Law degree from the Universidad del Zulia in Venezuela and an MBA from Columbia University. He was recognized as one of the 50 most Important Hispanics in Technology and Business in 2004. Alfonso began collecting pre-Columbian art 20 years ago. For the past 10 years, he has been collecting photography.
