Bounty Hunters, Bikers, Neo-Noir Los Angeles and Bill Plympton!

Revengeance Looks Like Another Winner for Renowned Animator Bill Plympton

Matthew Modine and Dave Foley join cast

Very few cartoonists and animators have a style that is as instantly recognizable as that of Bill Plympton’s. For over 40 years his illustrations and cartoons have been gracing the pages of such publications as The New York Times, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Penthouse, National Lampoon and Vogue. He’s produced over 40 animated shorts, seven animated features and has won numerous awards and been nominated for two Academy Awards. In short, he’s achieved about as much as you can in his field and is often looked to by others for inspiration, and is just as often referred to as “legend.”

Plympton is an independent creator who prefers to self-finance, so he is once again turning to Kickstarter to fund a new project in development with writer and animator Jim Lujan. Adam Rackoff will serve as Executive Producer. Revengeance will be a feature-length animated film that draws on such influences as Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski and Inherent Vice – with the following description coming from its official Kickstarter page:

Revengeance tells the story of a low-rent bounty hunter (named Rod Rosse, The One Man Posse) who gets entangled in a web of seedy danger when he takes on a job from an ex-biker/ex-wrestler turned U.S. senator named “Deathface.” Rod has to find what was stolen from the senator and find the girl who stole it. Soon, Rosse finds there’s more than meets the eye to this dirty job. Between the ruthless biker gangs, the blood thirsty cults, and the crooked cops – Rod Rosse is a marked man. If the bullets don’t kill him – the California sun just might!”

In addition to Lujan and others providing voice work, Matthew Modine and Dave Foley are both now on bard to join the cast.

The Kickstarter campaign launched on Monday, April 6, with a goal of raising $80,000 by Thursday, May 21. For more details, visit the Kickstarter page here and consider a contribution to help this project become a reality. In the meantime, enjoy viewing the video and related still images below.
