Howard Tangye: Inspirational Fashion Design Educator Gets His Due

Howard Tangye may not be a household name, but for decades those within the fashion industry have viewed him as a beacon of inspiration for young designers around the globe. As head of womenswear at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Arts & Design, in London, he has taught designers such as John Galliano, Hussein Chalayan, Stella McCartney, Zac Posen, Christopher Kane, Richard Nicoll, and Julie Verhoeven amongst others.
Until recently his work as an artist was less well known. His distinctive style depicting the clothed figure is finally gaining wider recognition and with your support will soon be available in a beautiful new book titled Within. The book is described as follows:
Within is essentially a story about Howard’s lifelong passion for drawing. In it, he describes the characteristics that attracted him to each subject and how he has tried to capture the unique qualities of each. More unusually, this book also gives a voice to the subject. They each narrate their experience of sitting for Howard and in some instances describe the feeling of posing in couture clothes. The book will contain 52 carefully selected portraits.
