Jamie Asaye FitzGerald: Three Triptychs

Three Triptychs

1.

fire season brings
awareness morning and night
how days burn away

after quakes we wait
for stillness to return, roots
grown deep with relief

California rain
now a major life event
another drought ends

2.

this winter solstice
planets align, grief and joy
make a single star

I fold laundry to
fold away the fear, place it
neatly in drawers

quietly I shut
the door on all Zoom meetings
in my house: relief

3.

late morning ravens
exchange jokes from a distance
ha ha ha ha ha

my octopus guilt
alive in the tako box
confusion of limbs

dive bombing beetle
frightens the words out of me
blue, green and buzzing
