5. Togethering
Rebecca Lemme’s Acts of Matter and Andrea Gise’s Dance Aegis reunite for a third shared concert under the banner T 3 T H E R I N G. 4. Flamenco foursome
This edition of the long-running, mostly monthly Forever Flamenco series presents Noche en Triana with dancers Fanny Ara, Reyes Barrios, Alice Blumenfeld and Oscar Valero backed by artistic director/guitarist Antonio Triana, singer Jesus Montoya and guitarist Kai Narezo. 3. Party like it’s 1988
The site specific masters at Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre launch 1988, a four part performance series employing the city’s public art collection as venues to celebrate the centennial of Culver City’s founding. 2. Just getting the family together
It’s definitely a family affair as the Washington Family Concert affirms the power of education and celebrates Southwest College’s 50th anniversary. For the occasion, celebrated choreographer Lula Washington assembled her talented dance family and musical in-laws including husband/producer Erwin Washington, daughter/choreographer/dancer Tamika Washington-Miller, and her husband/composer/drummer Marcus L. Miller. On the in-law side, composer/musicians Rickey Washington and Kamasi Washington are joined by the 10 piece band The Next Step playing music from their hit cd The Epic, plus art and emcee contributions from four more cousins. Several of the family are Southwest grads and as alumni welcomed the chance to get together to jam with new choreography and live music for this golden anniversary. L.A. 1. Sweet 16
For its 16th festival, Dance Camera West reaffirms its preeminent dance film festival status with its signature blend of dance films and live performances,.
