HOW WE ARE

We converse in loud whispers,
How we are
Suffering,
Uncertain the politician’s anger,
Certain there’s imminent danger,
This way, have we gone on living,
Stooping, quivering, quavering, stuttering, and
Suffering, yet smiling.

We converse in loud whispers,
How the northerners are
Slaughtered and disposed like waste, worthlessly,
Unjustifiably dealt with, ruthlessly, mercilessly,
The ones still breathing witness the new birth,
And the life less of the ones rescued by death.
Trusting they’ll get different from usual
Their dream of better seems atypical

We converse in loud whispers
How we are
Lost, lost, lost!
Lost, on how truth has failed us,
Lost, on how lies has saved us,
Livid and Lost,
Screaming, now our voices are lost!

We converse in loud whispers,
How we are
Caged, while all good things fall apart,
Our love, life, truth, beauty and art.
With soul plunged into the cold abyss,
And hearts plugged to sorrowful abyss.

We converse in loud whispers
How we are
Silently suffering,
Suffering silently,
Patiently waiting,
Waiting patiently,
Quietly praying,
Praying quietly,
That there be a time we enjoy sure relief
For the times we endured bitter grief.
