Ocean Dwellers

Even from the shallows,

the depths hear the calls

of pleading ocean eyes.

Creatures of the deep provoke them.

Midnight scales and locks of starlight so enticing.

Bitter-edged and biting words

are honeyed as they sing.

But in their eyes a darkness lies,

flooding lungs with sorrow,

twisting truths like smoke.

As waves drown out strangled wishes,

he sinks

And is enveloped by greedy, twisted, mangled fishes.
