One by one

One by one I watch

as the petals fall;

I lean back and turn the radio up a notch.

To drown out it all.

A beautiful pink rose stands proud,

But when I open my eyes

Its head is bowed.

Faded to the grey colour of your lies.

I hear your voice

Like a devil on my shoulder

Telling me it’s my choice.

The weight of carrying you, like a boulder.

I see your face,

Your cheekbones prominent because you hardly ever ate.

Oh, how I thought you were the epitome of beauty and grace

When I realized the truth, it was too late.

One by one I watch

as people slowly stop caring

I lean back and turn the radio down a notch

Till the sound of your voice becomes overbearing.

What are you looking for?
