Unsolicited Necessity

From the park bench I stared at the ocean

There was no beauty in what I saw

With much tranquility it stood still

While Pigeons viciously fought over bread.
Tired of this rat race I was
At my 21st breaking point,
The world was busy killing itself.
One step away to freedom I was.
I finally made a choice
You are but a raindrop in the ocean, minute and insignificant but paradoxically indispensable to the vast needs of humanity.”
Her timing impeccable
With words that stained my heart
A thin old woman
The brightest grin Iever saw.
She demolished my demons
Who lectured me for years
That’s five decades ago
The novelty remains the same.
