Sarah Elgart / Arrogant Elbow at MASS MoCA’s SOLID SOUND

Dance and music aficionados in the neighborhood of Boston and/or in the general vicinity of Massachusetts, I’m very excited to present a new work at MASS MoCA’s Solid Sound Festival.

On Sunday June 28th at 1 pm, Sarah Elgart / Arrogant Elbow will premiere an untitled new work, which will include music by guitarist extraordinaire Nels Cline, live painting by Norton Wisdom of the duo Stained Radiance, and dance by Wesley Ensminger, Shade Theret, and yours truly. This marks my second collaboration with Nels, the first being “Helicopter Lullaby,” which took place on an LA skyline rooftop, included projections by acclaimed music video director Kevin Kerslake, and was lit entirely by a helicopter hovering overhead. Nels Cline has been called one of the greatest guitarists of all time by both Rolling Stone and Spin magazines. And this new dance will include an amazing wearable sculpture by Swinda Reichelt and costume design by Shpetim Zero.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, MASS MoCA is an extraordinary museum, with a visionary architectural set up and curation that really invites the visitor to discover what it presents there on her/his own terms. Solid Sound Festival includes an incredible line up of music and other special events, including the band Wilco themselves.
