Semaj Earl: “white butterflies”
white butterflies
to see a butterfly,
is a divine act
the dream carriers,
tell of supernatural favor
i stopped believing in luck
the day i was baptized
at 8 years old,
it was as if my purpose was calling me
to the watery grave
to see a white butterfly,
is a constant reminder
white is what Angels wear
even outside of choir practice
heavenly communication tactics
that prayers are being answered
all my questions about life pass away
a white butterfly appears
and God shows me the answers
