The final new, for now
Three more performances share the stage to wind up Week #3 of this year’s REDCAT NOW (New Original Works) Festival. In The Legend of Ted Drago, Mark Golamco embodies that ballet dancer and also his painter lover, Alfonso Ossorio. Erica Bitton brings Vacuum Girl, a television sitcom pilot set in New York. Huntrezz Janos and Antigoni Tsagkaropoulou combine their talents in a virtual world with wearable sculptures in DENTAXUVIA. Birds of a feather
Known for its physical choreography and binary approach to partnering, the contemporary troupe Flock offers an early peek at this year’s Laguna Dance Festival. Another ten
The mostly monthly program Max 10 gives ten performers ten minutes each onstage. Hosted by venue director Joel Shapiro and curated by the staff, the line up of performances often includes dance. Applications for the next round of LA Dance Project‘s residency program LAUNCH: LA are now open. Deadlines, details, dates, and other requirements at LA Dance Project.
Applications are open and due by September 30 for a spot in the Brand Associates Dance Series 2024 in April and May 2024 at Glendale’s Brand Library. Companies with five years experience are invited to apply. More details and application at Brand Library.
September 8 is the deadline for locally-based, professional choreographers to apply for a residency at one of three studios in mid-city (Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Oct 2-21), Commerce (Fusion Performing Dance Academy, Oct 2-Nov. 10), and downtown (Music Center Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Nov. 9-Dec. 19). Homegrown is offered in collaboration with the Dance Resource Center, the residency requirements include DRC membership. The application and more info at Dance Resource Center.
