The TCM Classic Film Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, taking place in Hollywood from Thursday April 11 to Sunday April 14, 2019.
This romantic comedy fits this year’s festival theme, Follow Your Heart: Love At The Movies.
Also featured are Sleepless in Seattle (1993) by Nora Ephron with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, Love in the Afternoon (1957) by Billy Wilder with Audrey Hepburn and Gary Cooper, From Here to Eternity (1953) by Fred Zinneman with Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr, Love Affair (1939) by Leo McCarey with Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer.
World premiere restorations will be shown, like Holiday (1938) by George Cukor with Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn.
Film historian Kevin Brownlow, author of books like The Parade’s Gone By… (1968), a history of silent cinema, will receive the Robert Osborne Award (named after the beloved TCM host) for his dedication to the restoration of classic movies from the silent era, such as A Woman of Affairs (1928) with Greta Garbo and John Gilbert.
Among the numerous guest stars introducing their films are Jacqueline Bisset (Day for Night), Angie Dickinson (The Killers), Shirley MacLaine (Steel Magnolias), Gena Rowlands (A Woman under the Influence).
The closing night movie is Gone with the Wind (1939) with Clark Gable and Vivien Leigh.
On Friday night April 12, Billy Crystal will stamp his hands and footprints in the wet cement in front of the Chinese Theater, a tradition that started in 1927.
